In his forest, which he restored about 38 years ago, Omar has more than 20 species of trees that are used for timber; these are highly-valued on the market. Some of his trees are more than 35 years old, and could already be cut down for sale. However, this eco-service allows Omar to continue protecting these trees from clearing and removal.

  • Why is it important?

    Each 35-year-old tree (or older) can capture up to one ton of CO2 per year. This is vital in reducing greenhouse gas emissions that lead to global warming. The greater the amount of large trees on the planet, the more carbon that will be captured and contained within.
