Rosa Avilés and Lisbeth Yumbo

Their story

Rosa and Lisbeth belong to the Mushullakta community located very close to the Sumaco-Napo-Galeras ecological reserve, in the province of Napo. They are restoring 7 hectares of land, planting native trees and rehabilitating wetlands that have been lost due to deforestation and the naranjilla and guayusa crops.

Lisbeth is Rosa's daughter-in-law and they work together on her farm while Víctor, Lisbeth's husband, works in the city.

They are indigenous Kichwas, guardians of the nearby reserve. This project will add to the 64,000 hectares of jungle that are being protected by the Ecuadorian State in this reserve.
