Although small in area, Ecuador has four very distinctive regions. The Andes highlands in the center, the Amazon Rainforest on the east, the coast on the west, and the Galápagos Islands.

 

All have very different climate/geographical characteristics and are home to more species per square mile than most other places in the world. Preserving and restoring these ecosystems is vital for our planet.
